Pastor Kelvin McGee aka
Pastor "K" was born on
June 1, 1961 to the proud parents of Dr. Eddie V. McGee and Mrs.
Blanche D. McGee in the city of Bakersfield, CA. Kelvin has been
playing the piano, composing songs, and musical plays for 26 years.
Since early childhood, Kelvin has been active in the community and
in the ministry as well as music.
In 1979, Kelvin received the C.O.A.M. Award from the Mexican
American Foundation which was a special honor given by the city to
only a few students a year for community service. In 1989, he
composed a song about Martin Luther King entitled: “Oh Dear Martin."
The impact was overwhelming. After completion of the composition,
the city newspaper did a half page article on Pastor “K”. In 1989,
Kelvin performed “Oh Dear Martin” in Washington, D.C. for the
National Trio Day Conference, and in Sacramento, for the National
West Stop Conference, held in Sacramento, for then Congressman
Willie Brown. In 1990, he was inducted into the “Who’s Who Among
Rising Americans”, for his musical and commutative accomplishments.
In 1991, he was ordained to eldership by the Churches of God In
Christ. In 1994, he joined matrimony with Pamela Milligan, M.D. To
this union, two beautiful sons were born named Jordan Brian and Jaylon Dean. In 1994, Pastor “K” was also blessed with a spiritual
daughter who he regards as his real daughter named C’aira Converson-McGee.
In 1999, Pastor Kelvin McGee authored a book entitled: “C.O.G.I.C. (Church
of God In Christ) “Unsanctioned Issues”, Biblical or Trivial? This
book was picked up by Milligan Books Publishing. For a time it sold
through Barnes and Nobles Book Stores, and B-Daltons Book Stores
through out the nation. In 2002, he received Bakersfield City’s
Performing Arts Award presented by the African American Network for
his composition entitled: “We’ll Raise Our Flag” dedicated to the
victims of “9/11” and used it to raise funds for the Red Cross.
Also in that same year, he
received the “Mayor Proclamation Award” for his musical play
entitled: “Ten Plagues of Egypt” which premiered at the Fox Theater
in Bakersfield. In 2003, he took 1st runner up in the TBL Talent
Search Semi – Finals for the West Coast Area. In July of 2010,
Pastor "K" graduated with his Bachelor of Theology Degree from the
St. Paul Seminary located in Oxnard, CA.
Presently, Elder K. McGee serves as the Pastor of Goodness and Mercy
Ministries Church of God In Christ in Buttonwillow, CA. Pastor
Kelvin is also the Director of M&M PRODUCTIONS which serves as a
“Booster” company for people who are passionate about fine arts in
the gospel arena.
